New Years Server Upgrade Complete By Editor's Desk on January 3 2008 03:30 PM | Permalink | Author Info
Our planned migration to the new server over the holidays is now complete. We are now adding several new features and producing some exciting new programming to our budding network, which we will be announcing to you here shortly. Stay tuned!
After several unexplained incidents causing multiple servers to go offline at various times, our server hosting partner had offered a switch to a new server management service that provides better uptime service statistics, equivalent or better OnNet performance, and larger user data and banwidth capacity.
We at IRN decided to make the upgrade sooner rather than later, as we have plans in the works for some major content upgrades to our website, and we thought it would be better for both us and our users to just get the server upgrade done now before all the new software and content gets installed. This helped insure a smaller, smoother, faster migration to the new server. The down side was that it did delay the development of the new website programming for a few weeks, but the upside was that we'd have clear sailing to expand after that without having an even larger migration hanging over our heads still to worry about.
Well, as of today the migration to the newer, better more reliable server has been officially and successfully completed, and we are working full-bore on the next level of IRN offerings. Stay tuned for further announcements.
